Blues Buddies is a mobile app that allows people with mild to medium depression to find others in their area and to communicate and meet productively. While the topic of depression is all but fun, the chosen approach introduces game-like dynamics to the interaction, and an expressive interface that induces users to pay more attention to their emotional state, and that of others. Confronting emotions is usually an awkward process, doing that in a playful setting makes the task more acceptable. The social dimension of the app helps fight common feelings of isolation and alienation, and the interface facilitates positive interactions and keeps a watch on the negative ones. Blues Buddies is currently in alpha demo form,we are looking into funding possibilities to prepare for a market launch.
